Middleton Wood Meadow: A Great Community Effort!

Saturday 18th February, 2023 saw the greatest number yet of community planters turn out to deliver the next stage of Middleton Wood Meadow.

More than 75 volunteers joined CTMK and The Parks Trust at Middleton Park and put 400 new trees and shrubs in the ground to complete the bank near the new newt ponds.  Planters were all ages, of all faiths and none, working together to plant UK native species – Dog Rose, Hazel, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Dogwood, Hornbeam, Small Leaf Lime, Field Maple, Crab Apple and, being so close to Oakgrove, a sprinkling of substantial Oaks!

Middleton Wood Meadow was planned to be a five year project with a target to plant some 5000 trees.  Next November will be the final phase with more trees planted in just three years.

Huge thanks to to everyone who gave up their Saturday to create new wildlife habitats and to help tackle climate change.
