Welcome to Community Trees MK

We are a small charitable incorporated organisation. We work with the communities of MK and public landowners to plant trees across MK. We find sites, provide trees and then organise local people to plant them.

Originally set up in 2020, our initial aim was to plant a minimum of 1,000 trees a year for 10 years across MK. In 2024 we became a fully registered charity and to date we have planted almost 17,500 trees with the people of Milton Keynes.

See our About page for the latest update as to where we are with our goals and more information about our group.

CTMK has been awarded a grant of £500 from “Magic Little Grants” a scheme run by Localgiving in partnership with The People’s Postcode Lottery.   This will help us with the operational cost of organising events – insurance, van hire, equipment, buying trees, etc – so that we can keep providing free trees for community planting.

Rochfords, Coffee Hall – Two Years On

By adminLeave a comment

One of our first projects in December 2020 was working with Woughton Community Council and Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet to plant an edible hedge and a small orchard at Rochfords in Coffee Hall. We pride ourselves on planting trees properly so that they get the best possible start.    So, going back two years later, it is great to see the hedge and the fruit trees really thriving with a great crop of fruit set after the perfect early Spring – lots of rain followed by lots of sunshine.   Our early planters should be really proud of themselves and…

Middleton Wood Meadow: MK Schools Plant More of Their Wood

By adminLeave a comment

Schools tree planting week was a little more challenging this February because it clashed with industrial action by teachers. Nevertheless, six MK schools managed to plant more than 270 trees to add to the area of the Wood Meadow planted by MK schools. Together with The Parks Trust, we were still able to increase the number to 400 overall by some last minute actions: inviting families to plant with us on the strike day getting MK Home Educators to fill a vacant slot on the Thursday, and  to celebrate another great tree planting season, staff from The Parks Trust and…

All plants were UK native species including Wild Privet, Dog Rose, Hazel, Guelder…
