More than 50 volunteer planters joined CTMK and Newport Pagnell Town Council at the new Hornbeam Bike Park on Saturday 11th February, 2023. They completed the project by putting 300 new trees and shrubs in the ground to create a new hedge to hide the palisade fence next to the motorway and a new copse to extend the existing wood on the south side.
Planters ranged from the very young – just one month old – to the more mature – plenty of grandmas and granddads. All plants were UK native species including Wild Privet, Dog Rose, Hazel, Guelder Rose, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Dogwood, a few Oaks and, of course, Hornbeams!
Alison Spink, Property Clerk for the Town Council, said, “We would like to say a huge thank you to the 51 volunteers who attended the three sessions, it was fantastic to see so many residents, families and people that travelled to help, all enjoying planting the trees.“
Well done to everyone who gave up their Saturday to dig in.
